An Archipelago of Interdependence

Designed in collaboration with Studio Amatoriale, the exhibition unfolds as an archipelago of three interconnected conceptual "islands"—Commons, Mobility, and Resistance. Rather than functioning as conventional exhibition displays, these spatial environments become sites of inquiry, where artworks, archives, maps, and moving images trace alternative cartographies of ecological interdependence, collective memory, and political struggle. Each island operates as a porous landscape in which exhibition design, artistic practice, and critical thought converge to imagine pluriversal futures beyond extractivism and anthropocentric worldviews.

This webpage presents a selection of excerpts from the accompanying publication, including curatorial reflections, essays, and documentation of the exhibition and public programme. Together, they offer an introduction to the ideas, conversations, and artistic practices that shaped Sensing Interdependence. The complete catalogue, edited by Aria Spinelli, is available for purchase through Joint Cultural Initiatives.
